How it works

Title-pattern detection

Strip parenthesized variants. Normalize. Group by name + brand. Cluster sizes ≥ 2 become proposals.

Review before apply

Every proposed group surfaces in the UI with thumbnails of every member + the proposed parent. Accept, reject, or accept-all.

Shopify-native merge

Uses productOptionsCreate + productVariantsBulkCreate to add variants. Source products archive (recoverable in Shopify admin).

Idempotent

Re-run safely. Already-applied groupings skip. Manually-merged products stay merged.

Variant auto-grouping FAQ

What if the auto-detection is wrong?
Reject the proposal in the review UI. Or click into the group and remove specific members. Nothing applies until you accept.
Does it preserve images and inventory?
The parent keeps its existing images. Variant images can be added separately. Inventory move-on-merge is on the roadmap (Q3 2026); for now the source products are archived (not deleted), so you can manually move inventory if needed.
